    A WITCH!

I think you can file this one under: "Really?" But I had to share:

Can anyone else resist thinking... "A WITCH! BURN HER! BURN HER ANYWAYS!"

You're got a tweet from your plant... Says "WATER ME!"

This can definately be filed away as crazy, but apparently on Thinkgeek they now sell a do it yourself kit that includes a sensor which will detect when your plant needs to be watered. Once it determines that your plant is a little parched, it will then send a tweet saying "Water me".

Crazy huh? Very cool in a very geeky way. For the adventurous out there, buy it here.

    The "Miracle Fruit"

There's this fruit out there called Miracle Fruit. What makes it miraculous is that when its eaten, it causes sour flavors to turn sweet.

The Miracle Fruit, or Synsepalum dulcificum if you want to get all "sciencey", performs this tastebud flip-flop by containing the protein dubbed "miraculin." What miraculin does is cause acids to taste extremely sweet, and since most sour tastes are acidic makes them sweet as well. This fruit is from West Africa, and while its not widely available in the United States right now... All it takes is for someone to make the next "Screwdriver" with it and we'll get all we can to mix our alcohol!

    Really? Pasta Hut?

Apparently in an effort to re-brand itself as more than just selling pizza, Pizza Hut is now going to start renaming its restaurants "Pasta Hut."

Am I the only one that thinks this is a horrible idea? I'm pretty sure that the brand of "Pizza Hut" is worth something... Next we're going to hear about Burger King changing its name to "Chicken Tender King".

Check out the full article in the Dallas News here.

George Foreman Spinning Fryer of Doom

So I saw this on Gizmodo... Apparently George Foreman's utter domination of the indoor grilling arena isn't enough. He wants to create a fat-free(?) way to get some frying done.

How will he accomplish this? With a spinning fryer of doom:

Ok, he is going to call it the "Lean Mean Fryer" is going to spin the food inside of it after cooking to supposedly remove up to 55% of the grease clinging to the food. (Now you know why I'd call it the spinning fryer of doom, because to me nothing says death like a spinning vat full of hot oil).

Coming to your store shelves soon for a measley $149.99!

    Boom its Obama!

So the internet has been pretty kind to Senator Obama, and I think this picture sums up the general opinion of him.

Who wouldn't vote for a guy skateboarding on a shark?

Update: Hubble Space Telescope Still Ticking!

Soo... That didn't last long. Apparently the 486 based computer that NASA had on the hubble has now blue-screened and won't respond. Basically when the 486 fired up, a low-voltage power supply had a power surge that took out one of Hubble's cameras, and prevented it from rebooting properly. After that, further unidentified "computer trouble" hit Hubble and caused so many problems that it ended all recovery efforts instantly. Now NASA gets to go through the many logs that is put out to find out what happened and how to fix it.

    Sounds like a blast!

    Giant Robot Slippers!

Apparently the Japanese even get to get crazy slippers... Like these that you can get that will make giant robot stomping noises when you walk.

Crazy Japanese products! Seriously who comes up with this crap? Check out this video on Gizmodo to hear the sound they make:

    Guitar Hero for Hip Hop?

A combo of producer 7 Studios and hip-hop producer and film maker Quincy Jones brings us hip hop's answer to Guitar Hero... Ultimate DJ.

This is going to come out the Spring of 2009, looks pretty cool... As a DJ you'll be able to mix your own beats as well as follow along with prerecorded songs. It even is going to include its own version of a turntable! The only thing missing that I've seen is making your own samples.

Check out the preview here at GameSpot:

    Hubble Space Telescope still ticking!

A collective sigh of relief went through NASA yesterday as Hubble's 486 based backup computer (Yes, I said 486... like what we played Oregon trail on in the 90's) was able to be remotely activated to replace the faulty main navigation system.

Apparently the computer hasn't been turned on since 1990, but has booted up and is running like a charm. How crazy is that?

Check out the NASA article here.

    Diablo III: New Logo

Diablo III has been announced by Blizzard, which means that we're going to get to make another foray into point-and-click-to-kill-monsters heaven. Its also supposed to be extremely grimy and dark this time around... Its fitting that Blizzard has come up with this incredibly scary logo:

I don't know about you... But now I'm really pumped!

So I was watching a video on YouTube and started to read the comments... Then I noticed this button:

Then later, I was reading the xkcd blog and they pointed out that Google stole their idea!

Its so obvious! I think it should be required for anyone who wants to post has to listen to it. Who's with me?

    Crazy NES Box Art

You remember the NES right? Its 2D games with ridiculous repetitive game play and crazy hard bosses (Damn you Mega Man!). But there was one other thing that the NES had; crazy-ass looking box art. Just check this one out for the original Mega Man:

What the hell? Why are there palm trees? Why does Mega Man have a gun? I thought his whole arm was a gun?

    Then there was this beauty:

I don't think I'm the only one who sees something wrong with some kid running around with a giant blob who very well could eat him at any given moment... or jelly beans?

Those are my two favorites, but check out the rest of them the folks over at Topless Robot assembled:

    Weird Al's "Whatever You Like"

Like many geeks out there, I think Weird Al's hilarious. Check out his latest video parodying T.I.'s single "Whatever You Like".

"Shortly, you know that I know... If you had some lipo... You could be the runner-up Ms. Ohio." Awesome.

Evolution of Graphics in Video Games

Its crazy to think that video games once had the "classic" look of Pong, but graphics have come a long way. Just check out how much such a simple thing as trees have evolved over the years.

From this (Horace Goes Skiing, Sinclair Spectrum, 1982):

to this (The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, PC/360/PS3, 2007):

Google Gears: How cool is that?

So like millions of others out there I use Google's Google Reader. There's only one problem: I can't get to my RSS feeds when I'm offline. Not anymore, with Google's project Gears you are now able to "sync" your online feeds offline to be accessed anytime.

Basically to do this, go to http://gears.google.com/ and install the google gears client.

You can then configure it using this screen:

Right now it only supports Google Reader and Docs, but Google Mail and Spreadsheets are soon to come.

Pretty cool huh? This is one obstacle for cloud computing that Google has seemed to have hurdled.

Flipsyde - US History = Incredible.

This is one of the cooler songs that I've heard a rap artist put out in a long time... Basically it tells the United States' history, but with a distinct rap spin on it.

WARNING: Not safe for work, and not safe for the easily offended.

Crazy huh? Let me know what you think!

Why can't I divide by zero? A very nerdy thought.

I was talking with some friends the other day, and our conversation took a turn to the very nerdy... Why can't you divide by zero?

Well, here's a simple proof that should help explain it.

We start off with a division equation a = b/c. Mutiply both sides of the equation by c and you get a*c = b.

Now we put the zero in for c in the first equation, making a = b/0 or a*0 = b. This equation cannot be solved except if b is equal to 0. But if b is equal to zero, that means that you have to then solve the equation a*0=0. This is a problem because any number can be inserted into a and the soution would be correct. This means that the equation itself is unsolveable.

I hope that helped explain something that we are told by our teachers as children, but never actually take the time to figure out why.

    Nintendo Wii Storage Solution Announced

Nintendo has announced that they have come up with a fairly obvious storage solution to the Wii: SD Cards. Apparently Nintendo quickly realized that 512 MB was not going to be enough storage in this time of download-able content, and finally has resolved one of the major glaring issues with the Nintendo Wii. They are going to allow content to be transferred from your Wii main memory or downloaded straight to the SD card and then allow it to be played directly from there.

There will be a 2 GB maximum on the size of the SD cards (SDHC cards need not apply), but they will also be removable for an unlimited amount of room for your WiiWare and Virtual Consoles games. I know that I haven't quite run out of room on my Wii, but its good to know that soon I will have a solution when I do. This upgrade should be coming Spring 2009, so keep your eyes open!

    Nintendo Announces new DSi

Nintendo has announced a new "complement" to the Nintendo DS...

It still only has one touch screen, but is 12% thinner (I'm guessing because its also missing a GBA game card slot). It does include two cameras, and improved Wi-Fi Capability. I see some cool video chat capabilities in the future, as well as some interesting ideas for games utilizing both cameras. The screens are both a little bigger at 3.25 inches, which will definitely make DS owners everywhere grateful.

Another cool thing is Nintendo is starting up a online store you can buy games from straight through the DS. All I can hope is they start allowing virtual console games from the Wii to port over. I'd love to get some Super Mario 3 action in a portable handheld!

Here's a spec comparison from Joystiq that puts it against the new PSP and the iPhone:

Pretty cool huh? We'll see if it can match the success of the Nintendo DS, but it certainly has some cool features.

    Weezer - Pork and Beans

Well this video by Weezer has been out for a little while, but I came across it again yesterday and it made me want to share. To those of you who've been around the "internet celebrity" phenomenon this video will be hilarious...

To those of you who haven't... well click here to catch up. Weezer once again appeals to the geek in all of us.
