I do have to say though, I would have added at least one more:

Why is it that in RPG's you always upgrade weapons by changing materials? Why is the "Iron Sword" worse than the "Diamond Sword"... Couldn't it have more to do with other factors, like how big of a wuss your character is?

Anyone got any other cliches? Throw 'em out there.
